December 2007 |
Graham, Biddie, Tom, Sarah, Matt, Toni and families would like to wish all of our valued friends and clients warm wishes for the festive season.
Despite the dry conditions 2007 has been a most successful year for the sheep and cattle studs respectively. Exhibiting the Supreme Shorthorn Bull (Bundaleer Bishop) and being awarded most successful exhibitor of Shorthorns at the 2007 Royal Adelaide Show. The Sheep Stud also mirrored the success of the cattle by winning Supreme fleece of the Show and being most successful Merino & Poll Merino exhibitor. The top price Merino ram in Adelaide, selling for $11,000 to White River Stud at Port Lincoln. To receive such recognition in the show ring clearly demonstrates that North Ashrose and Bundaleer Shorthorns can confidently benchmark our livestock.
In June 2007 at The Dubbo National Shorthorn Show & Sale Bundaleer achieved Division 3 Champion & Reserve Champion- Bundaleer Alliance sold for $12,000 to Terra Shorthorn Stud, Dubbo.
The North Ashrose Annual On-property Ram Sale held in September remained strong despite the dry conditions selling to a top price of $7000 to Bungulla Stud NSW with a total clearance and averaging $1106 for 150 rams.
The Shorthorn Stud enjoyed its 30th On Property Female sale in October again with a total clearance of 63 head averaging $1772 a cow and calf unit selling $4250 to Bayview Shorthorn Stud, Yorketown SA.
In November 2007 the stud expanded by purchasing Old North Bungaree in conjunction with Tom’s brother-in-law, Nick Forgan. This property is located 20km east of the main property. This purchase will ultimately expand the stud(s) with view that this is an ideal opportunity to consolidate and extend all areas of our business. North Ashrose and Bundaleer Shorthorns will continue to remain committed to all our clients by breeding quality produce for many years to come.
On a personal note both Graham & Biddie celebrated their 70th birthdays during 2007. Graham enjoyed a “Birthday Bash” in August. Matt & Toni celebrated the birth of Dougal Charles in January 2007. Tom has been fortunate enough to be invited to judge in Argentina at their National Sheep Show in early February 2008. Tom continues to remain active within the Merino Industry and is currently Vice President of the Federal committee. Matt is President of the Shorthorn Society of South Australia. Both Tom and Matt are both able to keep well informed and updated of current issues within these industries.
Graham, Tom, Matt and families would like to take this opportunity to thank-you for your support in 2007 and to wish you all a happy & safe Christmas and look forward to seeing you in 2008.
